Oxyresveratrol (Oxy-R)

Kojic Acid

Medik8’s first and original brightening serum uses kojic acid. Naturally derived from mushrooms, it can bind to the enzymes which produce pigment to block the formation of melanin. This targets hyperpigmentation and leaves a luminous and even complexion. For kojic acid devotees we have White Balance® Original Serum which combines the power of kojic with arbutin for maximum brightening power.

Vitamin C

Super-stable ethylated ascorbic acid (vitamin C) is now included in White Balance® Brightening Serum to deliver a luminising boost. Vitamin C is also able to neutralise any free radical damage which can eventually lead to hyperpigmentation.

Chemical Exfoliators

The pigmentation solution is backed up with non-irritating polyhydroxy acids (PHAs). The big sister of AHAs and BHAs, PHAs work to gently dissolve the bonds that hold dead skin cells to the surface of the skin; revealing the new, radiant cells underneath. PHAs such as gluconolactone are much less irritating than AHAs or BHAs, and are featured in Brightening Powder Cleanse™ and White Balance® Overnight Repair. Because pigmentation affects multiple layers of skin, it is important to be consistent in order to see the results, but it’s a great way to speed up the brightening process, especially when used in conjunction with oxyresveratrol.

Sunscreen

The number 1 enemy of pigmentation is UV light. All types of pigmentation are worsened by sun exposure. It is essential to apply a broad spectrum, high SPF sunscreen daily to shield skin from damaging UV rays and free radicals.
